Parish Survey

Welcome to the Parish of Celbridge and Straffan with Newcastle-Lyons PDF Print E-mail

Our parish is comprised of several churches and is located on the west to south-western outskirts of Dublin, approximately 20km from Dublin city centre.

The rural settings of our churches provide the basis of their individual and rich histories, stretching back as far as approximately 1400. St Finian’s church in Newcastle was built around 1400 on the site of older churches dating back to early Christian settlement. In contrast, both Christ Church, Celbridge and Straffan Church, Straffan were originally private chapels to the demesnes of Castletown and Straffan respectively.

We have a very active Parish community and are currently engaged in Strategy2014 which is our Parish initiative aimed at rejuvenating our Parish. It concerns itself with reviewing and revitalising the financial, physical and community aspects of the Parish and Parish life. A further description about our Parish is given in our Parish Profile.
